The interviewers tell you what AAMC core competency they are assessing during the interview before each question
My interviewers were not very friendly
Admissions is friendly
SDN
OU Tulsa - the medical students & staff participating in interview activities seem to be better prepared/equipped to answer questions regarding upcoming changes, etc. (compared to OKC); OKC - everyone was kind and professional, but a little less welcoming (compared to Tulsa)
OU Tulsa - I wish I'd known my interview time slot & that similar to OKC, you'll have a panel of 2-3 people interviewing you. It is more casual/relaxed, but they do ask you some typical interview Qs. OU OKC - that the focus really does seem to be just on the core competencies for the interview
OU Tulsa - nothing; OU OKC - from the interview, it didn't feel like they really tried to get to know me (probably from lack of time); students didn't have many answers about curriculum changes (comparing them to OU Tulsa students who were able to provide answers on this)
OU Tulsa - everyone was so kind & welcoming! OU OKC - interviewers were friendly
I made a spreadsheet of all the Qs from sdn + basic interview Qs (i.e. why medicine, etc.), wrote out my answers, used the STAR method, & practiced verbalizing answers with multiple people
Overall a great experience! I was expecting to be grilled on the core competencies but I really wasn't. My interviewers were friendly and provided visible/verbal feedback to my answers. The curriculum restructuring seems to be for the better, as they switch to flipped classroom and active learning.
It was less stressful than I was expecting it to be
There was lots of clicking into and out of different Zoom links, it could've been streamlined
The interviewers were very friendly and welcoming
Talked to current students, read SDN, typed out my responses in advance, read AAMC core competencies
How relaxed the interview was. The interviewers are very polite and friendly.
Recalling personal stories of times I displayed the AAMC Core Competencies.
I had a good time. Much more laid back than I thought it would be.
your interview is split into two sessions. The first asks questions that coincide with each of the values of aamc.
