CycleTrack data guide

Use School Explorer to understand applicant-reported activity. Reports are voluntary and may be incomplete or inaccurate. They do not represent every applicant or predict an admissions decision.

Sources and freshness

Native school admissions summaries come from dates and outcomes reported by CycleTrack users. The timestamp on each school page records when its statistics were generated, not when a school last issued a decision. School summaries are scheduled to refresh hourly and may be delayed. School websites, MSAR and Choose DO remain the sources for official school information.

Application cycles and programs

A cycle labeled 2026-2027 ends in the 2027 entry year. MD or DO and combined MD-PhD or DO-PhD programs are presented separately. Current and previous cycle progress charts have separate tables. Historic summaries cover the current cycle and two previous cycles.

Cycle progress

Daily histograms count reported milestone dates. Their text tables count the same published observations, without listing individual applicants. Secondary means a secondary invitation received; interview means an interview invitation received. Rejection, waitlist and acceptance reflect reported outcome dates. One application can contribute to multiple statuses, so the statuses must not be added to calculate unique applicants.

Progress charts use dates from May 1 before the entry year through the earlier of today or August 31 of the entry year. Historic interview and acceptance charts align cycles to the same calendar for comparison. Missing or unavailable data is not a count of zero.

Historic summaries

Median means the middle reported value; ranges show the reported minimum and maximum. The sample size, n, counts distinct students with eligible reports for that metric and may differ between metrics. Median and percentage summaries show No reports yet when no students report a datapoint and are protected when one or two students report it. They display when at least three distinct students report that datapoint. Score plots require at least three distinct students with eligible reports overall. Individual plotted observations are retained; these limits do not establish that every displayed group contains three people.

cGPA is cumulative GPA; sGPA is science GPA. MCAT is the reported total score. Timing measures are days between the milestones named in each label. Applicant-reported interview and acceptance percentages describe this reporting sample, not a school's official interview or acceptance rate.

Other public data

First reported dates show the earliest eligible report, not the date a school began sending decisions. School discussions link to their original SDN source. A forum class label can differ from the application-cycle label.

AMCAS Tracker tracks application processing. Its dates and methods are separate from native school admissions summaries. See its data guide for field definitions and processing estimates.

Read-only school summaries, schema version 1

Append /summary.json to a school page URL. Optional program=reg or program=phd selects the degree track; cycle is the entry year, current or previous. The feed reads only published charts and snapshot metadata. It exports no applicant rows, identities, notes or private lists.

observationCounts counts the published milestone dates by status; daily counts the same dates by calendar day. These are observation counts, not unique-person sample sizes. Statuses overlap. Unavailable charts produce null counts. An empty valid chart has zero observations. generatedAt uses ISO 8601 with timezone; snapshot freshness is stale after two hours and does not describe when a school last issued a decision.

Program links and School Explorer filters support shareable GET URLs. Guides are linked from discovery files and page metadata rather than the normal interface. They remain public documents and do not authorize account access.

Access and reuse

These public summaries do not grant access to private accounts, application lists, profiles or internal endpoints. Preserve the source, program, cycle and refresh timestamp when citing a summary. No new individual-record export is provided here.
